Many people believe that homoeopathic medicine can work wonders for people and they therefore feel the same way about medication for their pets as well. There is quite a range of this type of medicine available these days.
It is important to remember that if pets have a medical condition then it is important to consult the vet before you give them any sort of treatment. In the same way that you would with a human, you have to be extremely careful about what you are putting in your body and how it might effect you. Despite being natural treatments, they can still have side effects and might even react with other medication that the animal might be on.
The vet will know exactly what is safe for your animal to take and what will work best with their condition and any medication they are on.
Many people do feel that homoeopathic remedies do not work. They worry that they have not been properly tested in a scientific environment. However, other people use them for their pets and say that they can see them making a big difference. Obviously it is hard to test whether this is true or not.
However, if you feel that your pet is better, whether that is due to the medication, your expectation, your perception or a placebo effect it does not really matter. If you are finding that it is making your animal seem more comfortable then perhaps it is something which you should continue with.
If you currently use homoeopathic medication and have not consulted your vet, it could be a good idea to mention it, even if your pet does seem better off taking it. They may be better off having a different dose, a different type or not having it and so just check and put your mind at rest.
