Pet Emergency Care

Pet Emergency Care

We all know how important it is to have a plan in case of an emergency in the house. For example people should have a fire escape route planned should it be necessary. However, many people forget to include their pets in this escape plan.

For many people, their pets are like family members and so they would want to make sure that they were able to escape a house, should it be necessary for the family to evacuate it in an emergency. It is therefore important to make sure that there is a person responsible for the pet and they know exactly what to do.

If you have a cat then it could be a difficult challenge as it may be outside of the house anyway and it could be hiding. A dog is likely to follow you out of the house anyway, unless it is hurt and then you may have to find it. A caged animal will need to be picked up and taken outside.

The person responsible for the pet should be an adult and one who is likely to be logical in this sort of situation. They will need to be able to make a judgement as to whether it is safe to get the pet or better to just leave the house without it. It could be very difficult leaving a pet behind and potentially risking their life, but you may be putting yourself and others at risk if you do so. This is why it should not be someone very emotionally attached to the animal that is responsible for rescuing them. They may put their lives above the animals and this could be very hard on the rest of the family, should they make a misjudgement.

If you have some time to prepare to leave your property then make sure you take some supplies with you for your pet as well as for yourself.
